On Religious Freedom

Karen Armstrong was officially introduced to a Unitarian/Universalist audience at General Assembly at Charlotte, N.C. in 2011. She was also a lead speaker at the 2014 IARF Congress in Birmingham, England. Known for her promotion of the Charter of Compassion she has been a tireless advocate of harmony between the religions.

In this video Armstrong discusses her own journey, the ideal of religious freedom, partly in connection with misunderstandings of religions such as Islam, as well as an assessment of the idolatry of fundamentalism. She also proposes the idea of pairing sister cities to experience in significant exchanges, the ideals of the Charter of Compassion.
